How do I find out how much my Nectar points are worth? ›

One Nectar point is worth 0.5p, meaning if you earn 1 point from a purchase it's the equivalent of 0.5% cashback. 100 points are therefore 50p, 200 points £1 and so on.

As one of the Nectar points' scheme's partner retailers, Sainsbury's offer 10,000 Nectar points for every successful application made for their credit card. 10,000 points equates to £50, which is a nice little bonus if you were thinking of taking out a credit card anyway.

Each Nectar point is worth 0.5p, but their value can vary depending on where you spend them. This means 100 Nectar points is usually worth 50p; 500 points are worth £2.50; to get to £10 you'd need 2,000 points.

Do Nectar points ever expire? There's no automatic expiry date for Nectar points. But if you don't collect or spend any points for a year, we assume you no longer want to take part in the Nectar programme and close your account. How many points do I collect for each £1 spent online?

How to get Nectar points quickly? ›

Points have no expiry date but are lost if the relevant Nectar Account is closed or the Nectar programme ends.

24 hours after your first visit to a store you'll be able to redeem points at that store straight from your card. Cards can be activated at as many Sainsbury's stores as you like. You'll be able to redeem at each store so long as you shop there once every 12 months with your Nectar card.

Use your Nectar points to get a discount on fuel at participating Esso service stations. All you need to do is put a minimum of 10 litres into your car, scan your Nectar card or pay through the Esso App and you'll have the option to swap 300 Nectar points for 5p off per litre.

If you forget to swipe or scan Nectar at Sainsbury's tills, simply present your receipt at the Customer Service Desk in store with your Nectar card. Points for general shopping can be added up to 14 days after the date on the receipt.
